Custom 300 was the base 1959 trim level. “Tee Ball” front fender ornaments were optional, as were four “Flying Dart” rear quarter panel ornaments. Side trim consisted of a single molding. Similarly trimmed two- and four-door station wagons were called Ranch Wagons in this series.
The absolute bargain of Ford's 1959 line-up was the Custom 300 Business Sedan. An idea that went all the way back to the Twenties, Business Coupes were bare-bones fleet cars that had had no back seat and a level floor that favored traveling salesmen. Suggested retail price was $2044 ($16,648 in 2015) and predictably, this car sold the least of any Ford that year.
