This pin depicts St Edward's Crown. St Edward's Crown is the centrepiece of the Crown jewels of the United Kingdom. Named after St Edward the Confessor, it has been traditionally used to crown English and British monarchs at their coronations since the 13th Century. The original crown was destroyed following the English Civil War when the monarchy was abolished in 1649. The present version was made for Charles II in 1661.
The crown was used for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953. It is made of solid gold, 30 centimetres (12 inches) tall, weighs 2.23 Kilograms (4.9 lbs) and is decorated with 444 precious and semi-precious stones.
The crown is on display in the Jewel House at the Tower of London
