The production of the Volkswagen K70 is due to the acquisition of NSU by VW. The original project was by NSU whose intentions were to create an alternative to the RO80. The failure of the Volkswagen 411 was decisive for the production of this vehicle that was offered with three engines and had a slight facelift at the end of production. The K70 was the first Volkswagen with front engine.
The Volkswagen K70 is a four-door, front engine, front wheel drive sedan developed by NSU and marketed from 1970–1975 by Volkswagen — after its 1969 acquisition of NSU.
