The 2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata casting was originally intended to be released with the trispoke wheels present on this Subvariant, but when it was first previewed, collectors criticised the wheel choice. In response, Matchbox made a "running change" and switched to 5-spoke wheels. It was thought that the trispoke version would appear at retail in limited quantities, but none are known to have surfaced.
