The Days of Thunder series when released by Matchbox was in such demand that they could not supply enough cars (Luminas) to keep up, They contracted with Racing Champions who supplied them with Racing Champions castings tampoed in the Days of Thunder theme(This casting described is a Matchbox casting). Also on this particluar variation while it is supposed to be a Lumina casting it is NOT. It is the Buick Stocker body with the front lower bumper engraved "Lumina" as well as the base text stating "Chevrolet Lumina"! But a collector with a keen eye will recognize the body casting as the Buick LeSabre. This variation also does not have the drivers name on the roof.
