Description from Mattel (By Gary Barnum)
We’re delivering a sweet tribute to an American classic with the Matchbox “Tootsie Roll” Divco Milk Truck. It will be coming your way on 3/23/23.
The Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company (Divco) developed the snub-nosed “Model U” in the late 1930s. The clever design included a double-stepped chassis frame, allowing the driver to stand while operating the vehicle. It also featured a swing-away pedestal seat for the driver to sit, rear-door access, and a visually appealing Art Deco hood. Starting in 1939, they were used primarily for milk delivery. Initially kept on ice, the milk was later chilled with the addition of refrigeration. Produced through 1986, these trucks are considered American icons and even put “milkmen” on the map.
Another American icon, Tootsie Rolls have been produced for more than 100 years, satisfying the sweet tooth of kids of all ages. This edition of our 2020 casting features Tootsie Roll graphics and comes in an acrylic case, making it a sweet addition to your collection.
