The Grand Opening Porto Allegre pin features the Statue of Laçador (or Monument to Laçador) is a monument of the city of Porto Alegre. It is the representation of the pilchado gaucho. It was defined by municipal law as the Official Symbol of Porto Alegre in 1992. Its authorship is the sculptor Pelotense Antonio Caringi. The statue was listed as historical heritage of Porto Alegre in 2001.  The  Gasometer Factory electric plant now non-operational. Since 1991 Usina do Gazometer, as it is called, operates as a cultural center. 

A sunburst behind the statue, and a Mate or maté, also known as chimarrão or cimarrón, is a traditional South American caffeine-rich infused herbal drink. It is made by soaking dried leaves of the yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis) in hot water and is traditionally served with a metal straw (bombilla) in a container typically made from a calabash gourd.
