After Mercedes-Benz tore to victory with its W194 at the Carrera Panamericana of 1952, the car manufacturer produced a road version of the famous vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL first made its appearance at the New York International Auto Show. Marketed in 1954 as a coupé, it was then sold as a convertible until 1963 and was mainly sold in the USA.
