The Classic was the intermediate entry in Rambler's 1963 line, between the compact American and the full-size Ambassador. Continuing an American Motors tradition that stretched back at least as far as the 1950 Nash, the seats folded flat to form a bed. Combined with the low purchase price, this made it very popular with teenagers buying their first car.
