Sears Tower Pin - Gold

2 Variants
Pin in honor of the Sears Tower at 233 South Wacker Drive. Started in 1972, it became the world's tallest building in 1974 at 1450'/442m, with 108 floors. It held this title until 1996, when the twin Petronas Towers eclipsed it by about 30'/10m, at 1480'/452m. Though 20 floors less, the Petronas Towers' decorative cone & spires of 240'/73m are considered building height, whereas the Sears' antennae (not figured in building height) actually rise 1728'/527.3m above pavement. The Sears Co. no longer occupies the bullding, having sold it in 1992. The Sears Tower still held 3 out of 4 world's tallest titles until 2004: Tallest building including antenna; Highest roof; and Highest occupied floor. When the Taipei 101 opened in 2004 at 1671'/509m with 101 floors, the Sears Tower no longer held the Highest Roof & Highest Occupied Floor titles. But the two antennae on the roof still (2006) give the tower the highest "tip height" of any skyscraper in the world. Painted style. 4 Lines print. Guitar Pattern. This pin was sold through retail and/or online. Base Material is Gold Appearance
