Roman Provincial, The Jewish War (AD 66-70). AR quarter-shekel, Jerusalem (temple?) mint

  • Obverse: Legend in Paleo-Hebrew letters saying, “quarter of a shekel” around three palm branches bound together at stalks
  • Reverse: Paleo-Hebrew letter dalet (numeral 4) surrounded by wreath of palm branches, X at bottom

Other Information:

This coin is dated to year 4 (The dalet, as a numeral, on the reverse) of the Jewish revolt, April 69 – March 70 CE.

There are only four known examples of this coin.  One of those is in the British Museum.
