Discovery Series – Vancouver has a box error or misspelling. The grammatically correct French spelling for the word “Discovery” should be “Découverte,” with the accent on the first “e” rather than the second one.
As for the design of the new mug, here are the symbols of Vancouver, Canada that we see in it:
– Pod of Orca Killer Whales. Whale watching is a huge industry in Vancouver and the Orcas are something to behold.
– Canada Geese are found all over Vancouver and throughout the summer is it common to see them with their gosslings in tow.
– Harbour Seals are commonly found in the waters around Vancouver and British Columbia.
– Woman with a film camera. Vancouver is known as Hollywood North since many movies and TV shows are filmed in Vancouver and around British Columbia.
– The Two Sisters, also known as the The Lions are a pair of pointed peaks along the North Shore Mountains in Metro Vancouver. They can be seen from much of the Greater Vancouver area and these twin summits have become one of the most recognizable Vancouver landmarks. The city's BC Lions CFL football team is also named in their honour. Lions Gate Entertainment which was founded in Vancouver in July 1997 is also named for the peaks.
– Lions Gate Bridge, opened in 1938 and officially known as the First Narrows Bridge, it is a suspension bridge that crosses the first narrows of Burrard Inlet and connects the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, to the North Shore municipalities of the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. The term "Lions Gate" refers to the Lions, a pair of mountain peaks north of Vancouver.
The Starbucks to-go cup is hidden within the bridge.
– Gastown Steam Clock. One of only six functioning "steam clocks" in the world and possibly the second ever created, Gastown Steam Clock was the 1977 invention of horologist and steam clock pioneer Raymond Saunders. It is located on the corner of Water and Cambie Streets in the historic Gastown district of Vancouver.
– Sushi is a very popular dish in Vancouver and there is no shortage of excellent restaurants specializing in Sushi.
– Cherry Blossoms. In the Spring season Vancouver hosts a Cherry Blossom festival with an amazing showing of bright pink flowering trees throughout the Lower Mainland.
- Hallow Tree in Stanley Park. The Hollow Tree is very old, about 600-800 years old Western Red Cedar tree that died, but left a huge hollow stump. The stump has a circumference of about 60 feet with a huge hollow center. It is a popular photograph destination.
Additionally, there are images of kayaking, Seaplane, watertaxi and the Vancouver skyline.
