Microbus, vee-dub van, or hippie-mobile … whatever you call it, the Volkswagen Deluxe Station Wagon is a hard-to-find collector favorite. But when asked, HWC listened, and it appeared in the HWC Series Seven Neo-Classics line.
Widely recognized as the ultimate icon of hippie counterculture, the Volkswagen Type 2 (or Transporter) as it was officially named, was actually first released in 1950. It joined the 100% Hot Wheels line in 2001 as the 21-Window Microbus and collectors embraced it on the spot. For 2008, the HWC design team gave it the full Neo-Classics once-over, complete with Spectraflame pink finish — a first for this casting — and chrome top along with Neo-Classics Redline wheels, another first. Hey man, with features like these, it's a bus even a road-tripping, macrobiotic-eating, commune-living '60s throwback could love!
