ZIL 115, 1977

ZIL 4104

One of the very last Tantal-models released with a reference number. Generally few problems with this car, but it's not 100% trouble-free: the baseplate sometimes tend to be/get 'too long' and bend down in the middle, making it clearly visible in profile view. The other problem is the hood emblem - this tiny piece of metal is not secured in any way, it simply plugs into a small hole at the front of the hood. If the fit is not 100% optimal (basically a matter of the thickness of the paint), it will not stay in place during transport and due to the tiny size, the emblem is often lost even before arriving with the customer.

Needless to say, after so many years, the number of surviving hood emblems is getting very low, although the model itself is quite common and inexpensive.

The Zil 115 is probably better known as Zil 4104 or one of the many variations: 4105, 41041, 41042, 41043, 41044, 41045, 41046, 41047, 41052 and 4112P - some of these are facelifts/updates, while others are armored versions, ambulances and hearses. The reason the Zil 115-name is used here is solely, that this is the name used by Tantal themselves.
