The Chevrolet Master Series proved to be a rugged design as it was the favoured choice, in coupe form, of one Juan Manuel Fangio who contested no less than eighteen long-distance road races in South America during the decade 1939-1949. His first victory in his ‘stock’ Chevrolet Master Six Coupe was in 1940 when he won the gruelling Gran Premio Internacional del Norte, a 1,550 mile marathon, which ran from Argentina through Bolivia to Peru. This overall victory set Fangio on the road to Europe, and worldwide fame
