Jeep produced the Jambo in 1982 to honor the 30th Anniversary of the Jeepers Jamboree. The Jeepers Jamboree started in 1953 and takes place on the Rubicon Trail (The Devil's Playground). The Jeepers Jamboree is the granddaddy of all off-road events and Jeep wanted to honor it by naming a Jeep vehicle "Jamboree," much like they now produce the Rubicon.
