Carl Michael Yastrzemski (born August 22, 1939), nicknamed "Yaz," is an American former professional baseball player. He played his entire 23-year career in Major League Baseball with the Boston Red Sox (1961-1983). He was primarily a left fielder, then later in his career was mainly a first baseman and designated hitter.

Yastrzemski was an 18-time All-Star, winner of seven Gold Gloves, a member of the 3,000 hit club, and the first American League (AL) player in that club to hit more than 400 home runs. In 1967, he led the Red Sox to the AL pennant for the first time in more than 20 years, won the AL Triple Crown, and was voted AL Most Valuable Player. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
