Attacked by a viperwolf on his first day on Pandora, Quaritch formed an abiding hatred for Pandora’s wildlife, as well as its indigenous inhabitants. After destroying the Omatikaya Hometree In the battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, Quaritch met an untimely end in his final confrontation against Jake Sully and Neytiri. Fifteen years later, Colonel Quaritch returns to Pandora, reborn as a blue, 9-foot-tall recombinant (recom) – a fully-autonomous avatar. His identity and memory were uploaded to his new body from an encoder device called a Soul Drive and Recom Quaritch is given his primary mission – to hunt down and eliminate the insurgent, rebel leader of the Omatikaya, Jake Sully.
