The EX Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game marks the beginning of a new generation, both in terms of the core series games with the introduction of Generation III, and with the rights to translate and distribute the TCG outside Japan transferring from Wizards of the Coast to Pokémon USA and Nintendo.

During this Series, Pokémon USA would go on to fully establish the Pokémon Organized Play program and begin to make new promotional merchandise available, many of which have become staple methods of release alongside new expansions, or to promote specific Pokémon.
