From 1995 to 2012 the Hot Wheels Mainline included a yearly series of brand new castings being released for the first time. First Editions was the longest-running name of the series, used from 1996 to 2006. It was called the Model Series in 1995 and for one car in 1996. The First Editions name continued until 2006 in the US and until 2007 internationally. New castings were released in the new New Models series starting in 2007 in the US and 2008 internationally. The designation of First Editions/New Models as a separate series was phased out in 2013 and new castings were released as part of other Mainline series alongside older models.
The 2004 First Editions was called "Hot 100".
