So for rest and relaxation, Rhodey drives to a small country village to go fishing! But Jim is unaware of the strange things going on in the village! "Here Be Dragons" Part 2 of 2. Guest-starring Hawkeye. First (full) appearance of the Eidolon Warwear armor. In a surprising twist, Jim Rhodes has a new set of armor! An ancient warrior race called the Eidolon has bestowed upon Rhodey an "Eidolon Warwear" suit! Jim doesn't know why he received it; but he's thankful he has the alien armor, because the monstrous Lictor is still trying to kill him! Nevertheless, the powerful War Machine is back in business and ready to lay out the Lictor! Cameo appearances by Sheva Joseph, Rae LaCoste, Skye, and the Hulk.

The Crossing - "A Little Muscle" Guest-starring Hawkeye and the U.S. Agent. Plot continues from Force Works #17. On his way back to Los Angeles, Rhodey gets to test his new Eidolon Warwear suit against a steroid-fueled bodybuilder named Wolfgang! After making short work of Wolfgang, Jim reports in at Worldwatch. And about an hour later, Rhodey receives a visitor: the U.S. Agent! The agent tells Jim that Hawkeye has been arrested and detained for the recent murders at Avengers Mansion! Rhodey can't believe it! So he and the agent make a plan to free their friend from the Force Works headquarters in Ventura! But one person stands in their way: Cybermancer! Welcome to The Crossing War Machine! Story continues in Iron Man 322 and Force Works #18. Cameo appearances by Sheva Joseph, Dr. Erica Sondheim, and the Black Widow. Flashback cameos by Iron Man, Spider-Woman, and the Scarlet Witch. (Notes: The murders in question took place in the special one-shot: Avengers The Crossing (1995). During this timeframe, War Machine makes a crossover appearance in Malibu's Siren (1995) limited series. At an abandoned airfield north of Calexico, California; Natasha Romanoff joins the Brothers in Arms! The quartet of present and former avengers is convinced an attack is coming! And shortly after daybreak their premonition is confirmed in spades! The powerful cyborg called Deathunt leads a group of high-tech assassins onto the airfield! And they're expecting an easy victory against Hawkeye, the widow, the agent, and Rhodey! But Deathunt and his crew aren't familiar with the Eidolon Warwear suit! Sadly, Sheva Joseph has been in failing health, since she made the time jump (in an unprotected manner) during the Zietkrieg crisis several issues ago. But SHIELD won't let Rhodey depart, because several agents saw the alien Warwear armor last issue! When SHIELD brings out the Mandroids to stop him, War Machine puts on a spectacular show!
