Cartoonists Tony Millionaire, Sam Henderson, Mike Diana, Scott Morse, Mark Crilley, Roger Langridge, Chris Eliopoulos, and Mark Martin are among those offering differing takes on a range of subjects spanning from terrorism and heroism to survival and the challenges of parenting. Other stories include an illustrated essay by Dean Motter; a Walt Whitman-penned meditation on death illustrated by Quique Alcatena; Darko Macan's "An Expert Opinion" on breaking the cycle of violence; and "T.V. Exec Visits Ground Zero" by TV Funhouse creator Robert Smigel and his Ex-Presidents collaborator, artist Michael Kupperman. Playboy Magazine's Istvan Banyai plus Carlos Meglia, Ren&eacute;e French, Alex Maleev, Peter Kuper, Tommy Lee Edwards, and others offer haunting, inspiring illustrations that distill the emotions provoked by the tragic events of September 11.</p>

On the icy planet of Sandalphon Five, Angela hunts the elusive and rare Sandalphon Dragon. She received a rare Hunting Permit to perform the action. Her Angelic Ribbons keep her warm as she decides this is how she will celebrate her 100,000th birthday. She recalls the hunting guidelines and how she should never provoke the dragon while it is in it's cave. She ignores and fights the dragon head-on. Angela stabs it directly in the eye to get to its brain. The dragon falls on top of her and knocks out her Angelic Ribbon. Suddenly, Surielle appears with 333,000 guards and drones from Elysium. They place her under arrest and Angela reluctantly agrees as she and her ribbon were slightly injured in the struggle with the dragon. She snidely remarks not a single one of them wished her a happy birthday. As they arrive on Elysium, Surrielle explains she is charged with high treason for hunting a Hellspawn without a valid hunting permit. Angela is shocked as she checked in with Gabrielle before embarking on that mission.[1] Elsewhere on Elysium, Anahita and Kuan Yin are in shock upon hearing the news of Angela. As her closest friends, they know she would never hunt without a permit and know this stinks of a setup. They visit Saranyu in records who agrees to release the case information to them. The media shows them Gabrielle's testimony how Angela illegally hunted Albert Simmons. They realize to free Angela, they'll need Al's help. In New York City, Kuan Yin and Anahita teleport to Spawn. They tell him they are going to take him to Heaven.

Anahita and Kuan Yin teleport Spawn to Elysium. They sneak him into a room and tell him they need his help by testifying Angela had a Hunting Permit. Spawn's suit begins reacting and creates spikes and other defensive gestures. The angels inform him that the suit detects it is amongst enemies and is naturally attempting to defend itself. Angela is brought to meet her legal defender, Callindra. She's not surprised this is an unfair trial as Callindra is a young angel with no experience. She knows she's being setup. Metatron meets with Malebolgia and tells him an unauthorized Hellspawn has infiltrated Elysium. Malebolgia sees it's Spawn and tells her to do what she wants with him. He claims to not have sent him there so there for did not break the treaty of invading her lands. Spawn appears at the trial with a disguise on. Gabrielle gives her testimony and admits that she hates Angela. She informs the court she never came to her office to present the hunting permit. When Spawn comes to testify, his suit reacts and reveals his true identity. The courts of Heaven react and tell the guards to kill the Hellspawn as it is an abomination. Angela trusts her instincts and aids Spawn as he's the only one that could set her free with the truth. They escape into Spawn's cape with teleport them to some location in hell. While they exchange stories in their temporary haven, they find themselves comforting each other in warmth and engage in a short relationship.

Smut, a small raccoon like dog, escorts Angela and Spawn out of Hell. Spawn and Angela bicker like an old married couple after their recent love-making session.[1] Spawn is sent back to New York City and Angela is sent back to Elysium. Angela tells Anahita, Kuan Yin, and Callindra she has a plan. At Terran Affairs Headquarters, Angela appears and threatens Gabrielle. Gabrielle admits that when Spawn touched the Dimensional Lance it must have been reconfigured. She could no longer find any trace of it, or Angela's Hunting Permit. She figured it was the ultimate opportunity to finally set her up. Teleporting to the Moon Angela meets up with her friends. They tell Angela they'll get the tape of the conversation to the committee to acquit her. Angela informs them she's decided she's not going back. She's going to stay a free-lancer. Rafael arrives at Terran Affairs Headquarters and arrests Gabrielle for her crimes. She states there will be changes in the office.

Astra and Crystal perform an illegal procedure to bring Celestine back to life. Upon returning Celestine recalls how she fought for God in the great rebellion. After being betrayed by him by not being revived after her death, she now sees the rebels were right and decides to wage war against God. She tells her angel backers they must obtain the power of magic as it is one of the few things that'll will bring him down. Meanwhile on Kyntek V, Angela continues her freelance hunting when she is suddenly transported to Elysium. Metatron informs her that Celestine has risen against Heaven with a host of angels and destroyed much of it. Metatron implores Angela to help save it. Meanwhile on the Isle of Paradise, Celestine frees the Amazonians from an ice tomb. She wields the queen's scepter and the Amazonians pledge allegiance to Celestine. Lady Demeter watches from the bushes. She decides to call on Glory for assistance and tells her Celestine is using a mind trick to make the Amazonian women follow her. Glory responds to her call and immediately teleports to the Isle. Upon arriving via the slip gate, she is attacked by Angela. After exchanging words, they realize they have a common enemy and join forces. They attack Celestine right as she renders a sentence of death to Lady Demeter. Demeter implores Glory to use the forces of nature. Upon summoning the cleansing winds and cloudy skies, her sisters are free of their mind slavery. Celestine slips away during the commotion to Orbital Angel Station. She prepares to use the Elemental Fire.
