Officially the Kenton Hardware Co. Kenton, Ohio and also known as Kenton Cast Iron Toys the company was founded by and started toy production with a line of horse-drawn fire equipment, banks, and toy stoves. It was renamed Kenton Hardware in 1900 and in 3 years later it became part of the National Novelty Corp. It continued its toy line under the name Wing Mfg. Co. It was then involved in several unsuccessful takeovers and eventually emerged as a separate unit, the Kenton Hardware Co., and started toy production again from 1920-1935. Kenton ceased production in 1952 and the assets were sold in 1953. The Littlestown Hardware & Foundry acquired many Kenton toy designs and marketed them under the brand “Utexiqual”. Littlestown folded in 1982.
