The Mille Miglia - Thousand Miles in Italian - was an open-road endurance race which took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957 (thirteen before the war, eleven from 1947). There were no races in 1939 or 1941 to 1946. From 1953 to 1957 it was part of the FIA World Sportscar Championship.
Hachette issued a collection of 1:43, starting in December 2008. There were 50 models in total, the majority made by Starline and Metro (renamed 2010 to Leo Models). Models came on a plastic display base (no perspex cover), inside a blister top glued to a white cardboard base. Each model also came with a leaflet, describing the car (in Italian).
