Steven Saunders, who's been around a while on the publishing side of the so‐called “skin” magazines, now heads a company that has acquired Gallery magazine, which he will be editor and publisher.

He is also president of the recently formed Montcalm Publishing Corporation, which, he said, bought Gallery for “over $2‐million.”

Mr. Saunders worked for Gallery after he worked for Penthouse, and after his stint on Gallery he started Genesis, with Japanese restauranteur Hiroaki (Rocky) Aoki. Genesis never really lived up to the promises Mr Saunders made about it, but now he's promising a completely new “quality” and “style” for Gallery.

Gallery was started in 1972 by Gallery Enterprises, Chicago, and Montcalm got it from Brookbridge Publishing. It has bean in the black since Brookbridge ran it, despite what Mr. Saunders calls its poor quality and makes money on its circulation alone. It averages about 650,000 copies.
