Play-Me

Brand

Something Missing?

Play-Me (sometimes styled as Play/Me) is a Spanish brand founded in 1969.

The most successful products of the company were a line of pencil sharpeners made of diecast metal, simulating real-life objects. The line started in 1969 and was widely distributed in many Spanish shops. The duality of the product (a useful pencil sharpener but also a toy) had great acceptance in Spain, and soon the company stated to export their products to France. After their first appereance in the Nuremberg Fair, Play-Me estabilished commercial relations with distributors of several countries, expanding their exports to other European countries plus Cyprus, the United States, South Africa, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Egypt, Israel, and Oman, to mention a few. The success of this metal sharpeners line was soon followed by mock-ups made in China. The production of this line ended in 1982. Nowadays this line is still well appreciated by collectors.

Other early product lines included toy diecast airplanes and some trucks in 1/32 scale. The company also had a short-lived series of 3-inch diecast cars and trucks, which was a mixture of new molds and some others used under an agreement with PlayArt.
