Quirinus Quirrell

Professor Quirinus Quirrell is a main character and antagonist in the Harry Potter series, first appearing as the secret antagonist in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, from 1991 to 1992. Prior to the acquisition of the course, Quirrell was the Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts. 

In 1991, Quirrell was able to locate and find Lord Voldemort -- being the only wizard to successfully do so within the past eleven years -- having his remnants attach to the back of his own head. Because of this, Quirrell wore a purple turban for almost the entirety of the 1991 school year. During the remainder of the school year, the professor attempts to acquire the Sorcerer's Stone in order to obtain immortality for his "master," Lord Voldemort.

He is prominently mentioned throughout the remainder of the series, most notably in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In the films, he only appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
