The company that was original just the Racing Champions brand acquired the ERTL brand in 1999 and changed its name to RC2.  Later it acquired Britains' model farm business (2003), Learning Curve (2004), the Playing Mantis assets incl the Johnny Lightning name (2008) and  The First Years (also in 2008).  In 2015 Tomy aquired all of RC2.  The Johnny Lightning brand was consequently sold or licensed to Round2.
