Salco Group was a London, England based importer and wholesaler of toys, giftware, and home goods. Details of the company's history are sparse, but according to a version of their website archived in 2004 and a 2014 administration report, Salco's origins date back to 1866 as a general trading house in Houndsditch, in the City of London. A German merchant named Adolf Saalheimer came to the UK in 1921 to find an outlet for his toys, and later incorporated the company as A. Saalheimer Limited on 31 July 1947.
The company primarily imported toys and giftware from Germany, and later imported various goods from East Asia. The Salco name had been in use at least since 1948 with "Salco Series" appearing on the boxes of toys produced by companies like Charbens and Eebee. The company was officially renamed as Salco Group PLC in July 1992, and it retained the Salco name until the company went into administration in 2014, then dissolved in 2015.
