Sam is one of the two barflies usually seen at Moe's Tavern. Virtually, nothing is known about him. Sam always wears a cap and glasses and was once shot by Moe, but has appeared since. Sam is a wife dodger, although Homer still says good things about him.

He very rarely talks, only twice, while having phone sex at the mall and again where he believes that Homer literally bet his daughter on a football game and then remarks "Wow! What a gambler!". He was once seen briefly seen without his cap. He was also once seen with his dog, called Buddy. He may have dated Edna Krabappel.
