South Park

(1997- ) | TV Show

Something Missing?

One of the most popular American comedies, South Park is a cartoon following the ridiculous exploits of four fourth grade boys, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. The show begins every episode with a disclaimer, reminding audiences that the show isn't meant to actually offend anyone, and that the characters portrayed are entirely fictional. The show then proceeds to unapologetically slam other shows, such as Family Guy, satirically poke fun at public figures, such as Al Gore and Jared from Subway (funny how that one worked out). Finally, what makes South Park a unique show in American culture is the way in doesn't blink as it crosses every line society places, making the viewer laugh while feeling very uncomfortable about some subjects.
