Speed Machines was a line of Hot Wheels models released by Mattel in 1983 to compete with lower-cost diecast brands. All of the models were standard Hot Wheels castings with cost-cutting features such as plastic bases, no chrome apart from the wheels on most models, and basic solid colors with simple decoration or no decoration at all. The packaging was identical for every model and did not feature the Hot Wheels name or logo.
