The current Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum moved to its current location after it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1959, a building considered a landmark work of 20th century architecture. The museum itself houses a seemingly ever-growing body of avant garde art. The museum's name in the beginning was the Museum of Non-Objective Painting, but was renamed The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum after the death of its founder, Solomon R. Guggenheim, in 1952.
