Donald Trump is the only United States president to have been impeached twice, and since leaving office has been subject to several criminal investigations.

A polarizing figure, Trump successfully ran as the Republican candidate in the 2016 US presidential election, beating Democrat Hillary Clinton and popularising his slogan "Make America Great Again" (frequently abbreviated to MAGA or #MAGA). Trump was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, but refused to accept Biden's victory. He has continuously made false claims of election fraud and made multiple attempts to overturn the election results.

Prior to winning the 2016 presidential election, Trump was best known for his TV reality show The Apprentice (2004-2017). In 2016, he stepped down from the show when he announced his candidacy and was replaced by former actor and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
