Chewbacca

Chewbacca, known as Chewie by his friends, is a Wookie from Kashyyyk and co-pilot of the Millenium Falcon. He was considered a hero of the Rebel Alliance and played a part in many victories against the Empire. He also fought in the Clone Wars, after which battle he aided Jedi Master Yoda in escaping Kashyyyk following the execution of Order 66. Between the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War, Chewbacca met a then-Imperial Lieutenent, Han Solo, who saved the wookie from slavery at the hands of the Empire. Following Han Solo with the burden of a life-debt, Chewbacca found himself embroiled in many pivotal moments during the Civil War, including piloting the Millenium Falcon while the Rebellion destroyed the Death Star.
