The Pacton company was founded in 1910 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by H.P. van der Ploeg. In 1948 the company moved to Nieuwerkerk a/d IJssel and in 1950 the company name Pacton was introduced (Ploeg's Aanhangwagens Chassis Trechters Opleggers Nieuwerkerk). In 2010 the trailer brands Floor and Kennis were taken over.
