Volvo Collection

A collection of Volvo models (all pre-2000) issued by Editions Atlas. Launched in 2011, it was, at first, only available in Scandinavia, but in the following years - due to popular demand - it was launched in a number of other countries: Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Models were, as always, made in China (Ixo?) and could often be seen offered by asian eBay sellers before the models were issued by Atlas themselves. Unfortunately for buyers, these Asia-models were often factory rejects, suffering from various flaws.

Each model was mounted on a black display stand with an upper half consisting of two clamshell-halves. A blue, generic outer cardboard box with drawings of various Volvo cars plus the individual model name+ref#. A cardboard folder accompanied each model, telling the story of that particular car, as well as showing technical data.

Free gifts for this collection included: a vintage-look small poster showing a Volvo PV544, a sturdy cardboard box for storing the folders, a dvd telling the history of Volvo, black plastic display racks for storing the models (each one holding 15 models) new ones would be sent as the previous ones got filled.

The series was extended several times after proving very popular with customers.

Detail level for the cars was quite good (multi-colored taillight lenses and (sometimes) interiors, good decals, authentic wheels etc.) - a few areas were less impressive, like the thick, oversized wipers and license plate holders. Occasional quality control issues, but not too bad.
