Roman Provincial, Time of Tiberius (14-37 CE). Bronze Ae Unit, Phrygia, Laodicea mint
Reference:
Other Information:
Issued under Pythes Pythou, magistrate (in office for the second time)
On this coin and RPC I 2904, the animal has been variously described as a wolf (KM 264; AMC), a lynx (BMC), a lion or a panther (SNG Copenhagen), or a panther (SNG von Auolock). A wolf seems the likeliest and presumably is a pun on the Lykos river.
