The mint of Phrygia, Laodicea ad Lycum was active from the late 2nd Century BC/BCE through the mid-3rd Century AD/CE

Although probably built on the site of an older town, Laodicea ad Lycum was founded by Antoichus II Theos (261 – 253 BCE) under the name Diospolis (City of Zeus). Originally part of the province of Caria it later became part of Phrygia.  Civic and administrative coinage started to be issued as early as the late 2nd Century BCE and continued until the mid 3rd Century CE.  The last coins minted here were made in the name of Philip II (244-247 CE).
