We are delighted to announce our new partnership with INDYCAR and the release of our first 1:8 scale replica of the Dallara IR-12 Chassis with Dallara IR-18 Aero Kit. This first model released carries the NTT INDYCAR SERIES livery, and will be available to fans, collectors and NTT INDYCAR SERIES insiders. Bespoke models will also be available made to order in team liveries, and will primarily be of interest to NTT INDYCAR SERIES teams and sponsors. A small batch of models has already been purchased by the Arrow McLaren team for use internally. Contact our sales team to discuss your requirements.
Sandy Copeman, Founder and Brand Director of Amalgam Collection, commented: “We have long had the desire to work with the most important and historically significant motor racing series in the USA, and we are proud to have been offered the opportunity to partner with INDYCAR to realise that ambition in full. With our US ambassador Paul Pigman on the ground at the Indy 500 this weekend, we look forward to working with NTT INDYCAR SERIES teams and sponsors to create perfect 1:8 scale replicas of their cars for VIP gifting and display. The high price of these models is a direct reflection of the enormous number of highly skilled hours going into the creation of each piece, and we are confident that there is a small but significant number of wealthy collectors and fans who will wish to add a perfect scale INDYCAR model to their collections.”
The NTT INDYCAR SERIES allows manufacturers to develop different types of engines, while every team uses the same chassis. Since the 2018 season until the end of the 2023 season, this has been the Dallara IR-12 chassis with IR-18 Aero Kit, whilst Honda and Chevrolet have provided the teams with different engines. Commonly referred to as the 'IR-18', the IR-12’s IR-18 Aero Kit was inspired by CART's 1990s and 2000s designs, but with a more streamlined appearance to reduce both aerodynamic downforce and team and manufacturer design development costs. The Aero Kit has fewer small aerodynamic pieces that can become broken or dislodged, with the intent to reduce the quantity of debris that ends up on the track, and is most notably lacking wheel guards, which were deemed to be a particular issue. The cockpit protection system, a combination of the Halo mandated in Formula 1 and a reinforced windscreen dubbed the “aeroscreen”, provided by Red Bull Advanced Technologies, was added in time for the 2020 season, to lessen the probability of traumatic head injuries from flying debris.
