Gloria

Gloria is a hippopotamus who resided in the Central Park Zoo as an attraction, all the while being good friends with Alex and Marty, and Melman's girlfriend (as of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa). She has gray skin, a snout, short arms and legs, black fingernails, an enormously fat belly, and a short stubby tail. Gloria also has a triangular belly button. She acts as the older sister to the gang, often putting her foot down when the boys start to lose control. As she is a hippo, Gloria's weight and her large belly caused some problems, such as in the second film when she tripped and caused the volcano ledge to break under Melman, though she saved him. In the third film, Gloria got stuck in a vent when the group was entering the casino and then she fell through a glass window.
