The Isle of Man Railway (IMR) (Manx: Raad Yiarn Vannin) is a narrow gauge steam-operated railway connecting Douglas with Castletown and Port Erin. The line is 3 ft narrow gauge and 15 miles long. It is the remainder of what was a much larger network (over 45 miles) that also served the western town of Peel, the northern town of Ramsey and the small mining village of Foxdale. Now in government ownership, it uses original rolling stock and locomotives and there are few concessions to modernity.

Part of the worldwide basic range from 1978 to 1981, it continued in the ROW basic range until 1983. It was also available in twinpacks until 1984.
After a hiatus of about four years the casting was reintroduced in 1988, first for use as a promotional model, mainly in the UK, then in some playsets and multipacks.
It was also part of the My First Matchbox and Graffic Traffic ranges.
In 1992 and 1993 it was once again part of the ROW basic range, and finally in 1997 it was featured in the Australian regional basic range. Its use in other series and as a promotional had ended by then.
