Kitmaster was a short-lived but critically acclaimed series of plastic assembly kits, manufactured in the United Kingdom by Rosebud Dolls Ltd of Raunds, Northamptonshire. Introduced in May 1959, the range rapidly expanded to ultimately comprise of 34 models of railway locomotives and coaches in OO, HO and TT scales, and eventually also a motorcycle kit in 1:16 scale and a kit of the Fireball XL-5 space craft from the 1960s British children's science fiction TV series by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.
Around 1962, the parent company, Rosebud, went into liquidation and a lot of their manufacturing tooling was taken over by Airfix, who reissued some of the Kitmaster kits under their own brand. Much of this tooling subsequently went to Dapol, who still produce kits from the ancient Kitmaster moulds to this day.
