"Making It Big" Wonder Man finally has his own series! And it begins in true Hollywood fashion by Simon's agent staging a phony fight for publicity purposes! Unfortunately, his agent picked a very difficult opponent in Goliath (aka Erik Josten)! Nevertheless with the cameras rolling, Wonder Man throws down with Goliathin the streets of L.A.! "Tough Times" Part 1 of 2. Guest-starring the Beast and Captain America. The Living Legend and the Beast travel to California to visit the Hollywood avenger! Cap is in L.A. to teach Simon new hand-to-hand fighting techniques, while Hank McCoy is there just to have fun! After Wonder Man's training session, Simon and Hank take off for a night of frivolity in the city! However their evening is cut short when a commotion begins downtown! After the events of Avengers West Coast #80, Cap asks Simon to serve as Rick Jones' bodyguard! Reluctantly, Wonder Man agrees; and at the moment he's watching Rick at the Avengers' California compound! The day is going smoothly until Captain Atlas suddenly appears and Rick disappears! Oh my, what is going on? Apparently near the planet Saturn, Captain Atlas (with help from Doctor Minerva) has stolen the late Captain Marvel's nega-bands! And now he keeps switching places with Rick on Earth to avoid being captured by Quasar on Saturn! Wonder Man quickly tires of Atlas' game and can end it with one punch! Millions of miles from Earth, Wonder Man and his fellow avengers find themselves in the Shi'ar galaxy standing before Empress Lilandra! The heroes have come to convince the Majestrix to stop the Kree-Shi'ar war, but she has something very different in mind! Lilandra asks the Starjammers to transport the Shi'ar's massive nega-portal to the Kree galaxy! Corsair refuses; but Raza, Ch'od, and Hepzibah agree! As the Starjammers begin towing the nega-portal toward the closest stargate, Simon and the Vision leap aboard! Wonder Man thinks the Shi'ar are covering up the true purpose of the nega-portal and wants to disable it at all costs! So while Simon and the Vision are working together, will the sensitive subject of the Scarlet Witch come up? Oh yes it will... and it might jeopardize everything! Story continues in Avengers 346. But one person, actually one synthezoid, stands in his way: the Vision! Why do the two heroes disagree on the proper course of action? Meanwhile, the Avengers' team on Hala and the Avengers' team on Chandilar zoom through space toward the nega-bomb! Will they or Simon be able to diffuse it in time? Wonder Man and Alex go to lunch at a Cambodian restaurant and later visit a Buddhist temple (for screenwriting ideas)! Eventually, they return to Alex's house where Simon meets someone new! "Killing Fields West!" A new super-villain named Angkor is tearing up Los Angeles! The rampaging behemoth is enraged over the bombing of Cambodia during the Vietnam War! And he wants to destroy as much property and kill as many people as possible! When Simon hears about the destruction, he leaves Alex's house and rushes to the scene! But Wonder Man's powers have been fading in and out since his exposure to the nega-bomb! Will the Hollywood avenger have enough strength to defeat the mighty Angkor? Simon storms out and tracks down Angkor at a nearby munitions plant! And then and there Wonder Man and Angkor battle to the death! Win or lose Simon will be a changed man forever! "The Cutting Room" Part 2 of 3. The Crazy 8 bask in the glow of their victory over Armed Response last issue! But little do they know that retribution is coming their way via Rampage and the savage Splice! With Wonder Man out of town, Lady Lotus sends the two brutes to kill the Crazy 8! Initially, the novice heroes hold their own in the fight! But once Splice stabs Alex Flores in the chest, the battle takes a serious turn! The Crazy 8 will become the Crazy 7, then 6, then 5, and so forth; unless Jamie Flores can find Simon in time!
