Pin promotes the Freddie for a Week initiative, an HIV and AIDS fundraising campaign that encourages people to dress up as Mercury during the week of his birthday, September 5. Mercury died of complications from AIDS. Hard Rock hosted Freddie events in 2021 at many locations worldwide, for what would have been his 75th birthday. Pin also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Hard Rock Cafe brand, founded in 1971.
Mercury is shown on right side of guitar pick, singing into a microphone with his right knee raised and his right fist over his head. His jacket, tank top, pants and shoes are white and light gray. At left, in colorful capital letters, is one of his famous quotations: "I Won't Be a Rock Star, I Will Be a Legend."
