Anakin Skywalker is one of the main characters of the prequel trilogy of Star Wars. Anakin was born as a slave on Tatooine where he was raised by his mother, Shmi Skywalker. His conception was a mystery, as Shmi reveals in Episode I that he has no father. It is often believed that Darth Plageius, master of Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine) used the Force to manipulate life and create Anakin. It is these mysterious circumstances that led the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to suspect that Anakin was the Chosen One, the person who was prophesied to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. With this faith, Qui-Gon agreed to train Anakin after they fled from Tatooine, even though the Jedi council feared he was too old to begin the training. After the death of Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan took the task of completing Anakins training. During the Clone Wars, Anakin was seduced to the dark side of the Force by Emperor Palpatine. After helping to destroy the Jedi order, Anakin took on the title of Darth Vader.
