Gamora is a fictional assassin in the Marvel Universe. Due to her alien species (Zen-Whoberis, which she is the last of) Gamora has superhuman strength and agility. After the slaughter of her race, Gamora was found by Thanos and he raised her as one of his "Daughters", his own specially trained weapons and assassins. After realizing how evil Thanos' plans truly were, Gamora defected to the heroes of the Marvel Universe to fight Thanos.
In the 2014 film, Gamora discovers Thanos' plan to gather all the Infinity Gems and decides to put a monkey wrench in those plans. She attempts to steal the Power Gem from Peter Quill, but is apprehended in the process. She then joins the Guardians of the Galaxy after they escape from prison, and helps them defeat Ronan the Accuser.
