McCormick was founded by a man named Cyrus McCormick with the invention of the successful agricultural reaper in 1831. In 2001, McCormick Tractors saw a return to America in the creation of McCormick International USA and the first US McCormick tractor was introduced at Pella, Iowa.
In 1902, J.P. Morgan merged the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company, along with three smaller agricultural equipment firms, to form International Harvester. In 1985, International Harvester sold off most of its agricultural division to Tenneco, Inc., which merged it into its subsidiary J.I. Case under the Case IH brand.
