The five editions disputed were enough to make it a well-known competition like the Mille Miglia or the Targa Florio . The length and the extreme dangerousness of the route, the prohibitive conditions of the roads and the fierce participation of the major car manufacturers of the old and new continent, helped to raise a worldwide echo on the sporting event, much followed by the American and European public.
