Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo is a 1977 American comedy adventure film and the third installment of The Love Bug film series made by Walt Disney Productions starring Herbie - the white 1963 Volkswagen racing Beetle with a mind of its own. In the film, Dean Jones returns as champion race car driver Jim Douglas (reprising his role from the first film in the series), joined this time by his somewhat cynical and eccentric riding mechanic Wheely Applegate (Don Knotts). The film follows Douglas, Applegate, and Herbie as they participate in the fictional Trans-France Race, a road race from Paris, France, to Monte Carlo, Monaco.

This 1/18 scale model of a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle is based on Herbie from Disney's Herbie The Love Bug film franchise. It was released in two major versions, one replicating Herbie's look in the final scenes of the first film, The Love Bug (1969), and the other replicating Herbie's look in the 1974 film Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo. Each was produced in premium and economy versions, with the premium version featuring moving parts and extra details.
The model was designed by Brendon Vetuskey, who consulted with Herbie expert Tory Alonzo for accuracy.
This resin 1/18 scale model was first produced as a 1975 Lancia Beta Montecarlo, then later re-released with modifications as a 1976 and 1977 Lancia Scorpion (the US-market version of the Beta Montecarlo).
